Jo Adele Petunia Lieber
Born and Raised Venice, CA
Josephine Lieber is an American born photographer based in New York City and Los Angeles. She studies at Tisch Digital Imaging and Photography to earn her BFA with a Minor in Art History. Her work primarily consists of portraiture with a focus on Sustainable Fashion and Youth Culture. Lieber works both in the medium of analog and digital photography inspired by vintage fashion to encourage young consumers to think both about the importance of ethical consumption as well as reflect on her generation in relationship to gender, identity, and personal expression. Her most recent collection for her Thesis exhibition at Tisch school of the arts uses the lens of Art History to question gender norms by creating images inspired by famous pieces of art with subjects being gender swapped to uncover how Art History and Images have influenced the modern expectations of gender.
